Fifa's World Rankings were announced today. Spain stay in top spot in this month's Fifa world rankings. Brazil are second followed by the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and Germany. Spain and Brazil are among the bookies' favorites to win the World Cup next summer. England are in 7th place, up one spot. Argentina are 9th. France are in 8th. Egypt is the highest African team in 14th. Diego Dogged by Controversy

Diego Maradona is a man who finds it hard to keep out of the headlines. If I had been asked to guess which one of the 32 World Cup coaches had been rushed to hospital this week with his lip punctured by a dog, I'd have said the great Diego. Maradona's list of enemies is long, but I had no inkling it extended to canines.
