United sound out Kuyt

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt. The Times says the Dutchman is emerging as a contender to replace Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who left for Real Madrid last week. It has emerged that United have also made an indirect inquiry regarding the availability of Kuyt, who also interests Liverpool and Newcastle United, in the past 48 hours.
